iOS 9 and WatchOS 2 will be available to download on September 16

As expected, Apple today announced a release date for both iOS 9 and WatchOS 2: September 16.

iOS 9 was first announced at WWDC earlier this year, and includes a number of new features, such as split screen support for the iPad, predictive Siri, content blockers for Safari and more.

The ‘gold master’ of iOS 9 has been made available for registered developers to test their apps on ahead of the release and can be downloaded now, if you can’t wait, by paying the $99 developer fee.

Meanwhile, WatchOS 2 brings animated wallpapers, third-party complications, and native apps. Previously, third-party apps were basically streamed from your iPhone, making them slower than necessary.

The company demoed some of the powerful new native apps coming the Apple Watch, including Facebook Messenger, an iTranslate app and a viewfinder for GoPro cameras.
