Vimeo releases apps for tvOS, Android TV, and Samsung’s Tizen-powered TVs.

Today, Vimeo jumped from the touchscreen to the big-screen with all-new applications for the Apple TV, Android TV, and a HTML5 app for Samsung’s line of Tizen-powered Smart TVs.

These, Vimeo says, are a complete rebuild of the Vimeo TV experience, and is “fully customized for watching and discovering content on these next-generation viewing platforms.”

“We’ve built brand new native experiences for Apple TV and Android TV, and are introducing our first-ever HTML5-based TV app to provide the best possible viewing experience and promote greater content discovery,” said Will True, ‎Senior Product Manager of TV Apps at Vimeo.

The latest-and-greatest Vimeo apps come with a whole host of new features. Now, when you load the app, it’ll automatically start playing the from the site’s “Curated Cinema Experience” – which is a hand-picked selection of the best content on the platform. According to Vimeo:

The selection is updated daily, featuring fresh, new videos hand-curated by Vimeo’s in-house editorial team from Vimeo’s worldwide community of filmmakers. For example, this week the app will feature Vimeo’s Staff Picks Best of the Year 2016 collection – over an hour’s worth of the best videos uploaded to Vimeo throughout 2016.

Of course, you’ll be able to access your customized feed, uploaded videos, as well as any videos you’ve purchased previously.

The new Apple tvOS and Android TV apps are available now. At the time of writing, only tvOS offers the full feature-set. Android TV will launch with limited features and a gradual roll out for the rest. As for the Samsung Smart TV app, you can expect this to launch in the coming weeks.
