Ubisoft built a headset that lets you smell farts as you play the new South Park game

Ubisoft built a headset that lets you smell farts as you play the new South Park game

It’s no smell-o-vision, but it’s close… enough to reaffirm that it’s probably a bad idea to start.

In an upcoming game, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, the main character’s superpower is farting. He uses what Ubisoft says is “the power of the ass” to move around and fight enemies. And while VR gaming is the the new rage, farts aren’t exactly visible, so Ubisoft went ahead and created a rig that lets you smell farts during gameplay instead.

Called the Nosulus Rift, you strap the headset around your nose and play the game as usual. When your character makes a stink, you’ll smell the gas too.

I’m sure you’re dying to find out where you can buy this atrocious device, but Ubisoft has only made it available for demo at conventions, so if you want to give it a whirl you’ll have to attend major gaming conferences where Ubisoft is participating. Otherwise, you can get the The Fractured But Whole when it’s released on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on December 6, and supply your own beans and sodas to get the digestive system going.

We’re gonna give this a hard pass, if you get our drift.
